People Can Fly – the developer of Outriders and Bulletstorm – has signed a deal with PlayStation to work on a new project based on an existing Sony series.

Further details remain slim for now, though it has been confirmed the upcoming release is codenamed Project Delta, and that it is based on a franchise to which Sony holds the intellectual property rights.

Word of this upcoming Sony collaboration comes from a report published by People Can Fly itself. Here, the studio stated it had entered into a work-for-hire agreement with the PlayStation maker.

So, what could it be? Well, call me optimistic, but I am thinking of Killzone. Sure, last year developer Guerrilla made it sound like it was done with Killzone, instead now favouring its Horizon series, but that doesn’t mean Sony is… right?

In 2023, People Can Fly signed a work-for-hire agreement with Microsoft to develop a new project based on one of the Xbox maker’s IP.

In the time since, the studio has suffered a number of layoffs. Meanwhile in April last year, it was revealed the People Can Fly had cancelled a co-op action RPG – which was codenamed Project Dagger – after it was dropped by publisher Take-Two Interactive in 2022.

Earlier this year, People Can Fly was announced as co-developer of Gears of War: E-Day alongside The Coalition. At this time, People Can Fly’s CEO Sebastian Wojciechowski called the collaboration a “privilege and an exciting opportunity to build upon the intense, visceral action and rich storytelling that fans have come to love”.
