FromSoftware’s The Duskbloods is Bloodborne meets Sekiro meets Dark Souls, with jetpacks and dinos thrown in

Well, where to start! As part of Nintendo’s Switch 2 Direct, FromSoftware has unveiled a brand-new title. It’s called The Duskbloods, it’s coming to Switch 2 next year, and it looks wild.

There’s not a huge amount of information available right now, but a post-Direct press release has suggested The Duskbloods won’t be a traditional Soulborne effort, but rather a “PvPvE title with online multiplayer” – featuring up to eight participants vying for “supremacy among themselves and against challenging foes”.

Players take on the role of Twilight Bloodlines, who’ve all gained abilities through the power of their special blood – and who are all engaged in a fierce battle to acquire the mysterious First Blood as the game begins. Beyond that, all we’ve got to go on at the moment is The Duskbloods’ frankly eye-popping announcement trailer, which suggests there’ll be plenty of familiar FromSoftware DNA in there, just with a whole lot of everything crammed in.

It’s got a huge clock tower more than a little reminiscent of Bloodborne, for instance, Eastern influences triggering recollections of Sekiro, character design that looks like it’s tumbled straight out of Dark Souls – and that’s before we even get to the wilder stuff like the jetpacks, the steampunk, and the fact players can transform into blimmin’ T. rexes!

Everything revealed so far indicates The Duskbloods will be a Switch 2 exclusive when it arrives next year, and anyone eager for more information can check out an interview with the game’s creator, Hidetaka Miyazaki, this Friday, April 4th. And if you’re looking for more FromSoftware on your new Nintendo console, Elden Ring is confirmed to be on the way too.
