Please humour me and sing this next line like you are in a karaoke bar on a hen/stag do or equivalent: let’s get ready to Sonic Rumble.

The upcoming mobile and PC party game from Sega and Angry Birds maker Rovio has landed itself a release date.

Sonic Rumble will get its global release on 8th May.

Sonic Rumble is a free-to-play battle royale game where up to 32 players collect rings (I mean, this is a Sonic title, after all) in competitive rounds like those seen in fellow party game Fall Guys.

If this all sounds like your thing – if it has spiked your interest, or prickled your fancy – you can pre-register for Sonic Rumble now via the App Store and Google Play. If PC gaming is more your thing, you can now add it to your wishlist on Steam.

The Sonic Rumble team is incentivising players to pre-register with the promise of some in-game rewards. In short, the more pre-registrations there are for Sonic Rumble, the more in-game rewards you will be able to get your prickly paws on.

Potential rewards include “character skins including a Sonic skin from the recent Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie, Chao stickers and buddies, and in-game currency (rings),” reads Sonic Rumble’s press material.

Sonic Rumble will be Rovio’s first brand new game since the studio was acquired by Sega in 2023 for £625m. The title was initially set to make its debut sometime during the winter, but this was delayed until a then unspecified spring release window.
