Retro handheld maker Anbernic has suspended shipments due to US tariffs imposed on China by Donald Trump’s administration.

The company, which is based in China, updated the shipping policies on its website to warn customers about import duties on its products.

“Due to changes in US tariff policies, we will be suspending all orders shipping from China to the United States,” it said.

“We strongly recommend prioritising products shipped from our US warehouse, which are currently not affected by import duties and can be purchased with confidence.”

Anbernic said that it will keep customers updated regarding any changes to import duties, and will publish its revised shipping policy on its website.

As noted by The Verge, Anbernic ships products from China directly to buyers once a new handheld is released, then stockpiles additional units in its US warehouse.

While US customers can’t buy from Anbernic directly for the time being, its products are available on third-party websites including Amazon.

Anbernic was founded in 2017 by Shenzhen YangLiMing Electronic Technology Co. It launched with China’s first open-source handheld gaming console, the Retro Games series.

It has since released more than 30 models of consoles, which can emulate gaming systems including NES, Sega Genesis, Game Boy, SNES, PlayStation, Nintendo 64, PlayStation Portable, and Nintendo DS.
