Amplitude Studios has raised $13.6 million (€12 million) in a Series A funding round.

Amplitude – which regained its independence from Sega last November – had its funding round led led by Griffin Gaming Partners’ $11.3 million investment, with additional funding from investment bank Bpifrance. As reported by GamesBeat, Amplitude plans to use the investment to complete development of its current title, Endless Legend 2, develop new projects, and expand its headcount and “community collaboration.”

“We built Amplitude as an indie studio driven by passion and community. What’s exciting about regaining our independence through this partnership with Griffin is that it’s not about changing who we are, it’s about accelerating toward the future we’ve always envisioned,” said CEO Romain de Waubert de Genlis.

“A future where we can fully realize our creative vision and deliver the immersive experiences our players expect. We’re already deep in development on what’s next—and we can’t wait to share it.”

The decision to part with Sega followed a “period of close consultation” between Amplitude and Sega. Going forward, the Paris-based studio will focus on its own IP as an independent developer.
