UK retailer GAME has admitted it’s cancelled a number of Switch 2 online pre-orders.

It’s unclear how many customers may be affected by the cancellations, or why they’ve occurred.

GAME shared the news on social media, where it added it’s aiming to “reinstate as many affected pre-orders as possible”. However, the retailer (like many) is not accepting new pre-orders on its website.

“We sincerely apologise for the recent cancellation of some Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders,” the statement on social media reads. “We understand how disappointing this is, especially for those who have been eagerly awaiting their order.

“We’re currently working hard to reinstate as many affected pre-orders as possible. If your order was impacted, please know that we’re doing everything we can and will be in touch with further updates and next steps.”

Eurogamer has contacted GAME for clarification on why these cancellations have occurred.

As previously reported, GAME does not have in-store pre-orders available for Switch 2. The retailer had a “small allocation” of consoles available online instead – and now that’s been hit by these cancellation issues.

By contrast, UK retailer Smyths will be holding midnight launches for the console, for those who pre-ordered for in-store collection. Limited stock will be available in-store for purchase.

If you selected Click & Collect for your Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order, you can pick it up from 12:01am–12:30am on 5th June! ⏰🛍️

This issue with GAME will likely come as no surprise to recent customers. Last year, the retailer acknowledged issues with its website as customers awaited pre-orders – most notably the Silent Hill 2 steelbook.

Eurogamer then reported on the fall of GAME, which has been beset by issues since it was acquired by Frasers Group.

Alongside the decision not to have in-store Switch 2 pre-orders, GAME closed its head office and main warehouse in Basingstoke, UK, resulting in job losses. It then auctioned off various fixtures and fittings.
