GTA 6 trailer hides sneaky Red Dead Redemption hint suggesting Rockstar’s cowboy series is part of the same world

In case you hadn’t heard, Rockstar released a second trailer for GTA 6 earlier this week. It offered a good look at the game, and was packed full of impressive moments which set the internet abuzz, such as bubbly beer and very reflective mirrors.

And the trailer’s extra details keep on getting spotted, with fans now realising that the money in GTA 6 actually features the faces of presidents from Red Dead Redemption 2 lore.

While it may not be the first thing that catches your eye, if you pause and zoom in on the money during the trailer’s strip club scenes you will see the faces of president Thaddeus Waxman and President Hardin looking back at you, each sporting some rather fabulous facial hair.

This would suggest an in-universe link between Rockstar’s cowboy epics and its car-heisting series, which Rockstar has kept separate up until this point.

Rockstar has included some Red Dead Easter eggs in GTA before, but only ones which suggest the game exists as a fictional product. For example, during the GTA 5 mission Daddy’s Little Girl, players can find a vendor sporting a red T-shirt that pays tribute to Red Dead Redemption’s John Marston.

Speaking of John Marston, there is also a book called “Red Dead” by a J. Marston which can be found on various bookshelves around GTA 5.

As for GTA 6, it’s set to arrive on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on 26th May, 2026.

The game’s second trailer soared its way past 475m views across platforms in just 24 hours, with Rockstar stating this made it the biggest video launch of all time. Yesterday, the developer confirmed its latest GTA 6 trailer was a mix of “gameplay and cutscenes”, which had been captured “entirely in-game” on a PS5.
