Nintendo announced a new app as part of this afternoon’s Nintendo Direct presentation.

This app is known as Nintendo Today, and “functions like a daily calendar”. It will allow users to take a look at various Nintendo events (such as today’s Direct), as well as offering up content about Nintendo games.

Those who download the app will have something to check out with each new day, and – following next week’s dedicated Switch 2 Direct – this will also be where you can find out information on the upcoming console.

The Nintendo Today app will be available to download via the App Store and Google Play later today (27th March), and can be used by anyone with a Nintendo account.

Elsewhere during today’s Direct, we finally got a first proper look at Metroid Prime 4: Beyond gameplay (much to the delight of many of us here at Eurogamer – I may have smashed down on my keyboard) as well as footage of Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake.

A little series known as Pokémon also showed up, and we got a new trailer for ZA, which showed off the unique new Pokémon battles that happen in real time and which can feature Mega Evolutions.

Don’t forget, on 2nd April we will be getting a much more in depth look at the Nintendo Switch 2. I wonder if I will finally hear about those elusive Wind Waker and Twilight Princess ports then, because alas, they didn’t show up this afternoon (sniffs).
