The next set of packs for Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket have been revealed, themed around the Johto region from Pokémon Gold and Silver.

The Wisdom of Sea and Sky expansion features the legendary pokémon Lugia and Ho-Oh, as well as the three starter ‘mon Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile. The expansion will also introduce pokémon with attacks that don’t require energy, presenting new strategies for the card game.

The expansion will arrive on 30th July, at the same time as the previously revealed update to trading.

Not only will the game introduce a wishlist feature for players to indicate which cards they’d like to trade, trade tokens will be discontinued and shinedust will take its place.

Trading was first introduced at the start of this year, but was quickly criticised for introducing yet another currency. This forthcoming overhaul will simplify the process.

Players will be able to exchange their trade tokens for shinedust or hourglasses.

The announcement follows the Pokémon Presents livestream from earlier this week, though it’s odd that this wasn’t part of the event.

We’ve got a roundup of this year’s Pokémon Presents stream so you can catch up on all the news, including a fresh look at Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
