Capcom has lifted the lid on Resident Evil 9, the next entry in its long-standing horror series. I say Resident Evil 9. Its full name is in fact Resident Evil Requiem, which gives it all a greater sense of gravitas.

Today’s news all arrived with a new trailer, which you can check out below. Admittedly, it doesn’t give us a huge amount of information right now, serving more of a little taster for what’s in store.

Resident Evil Requiem – Reveal Trailer. Watch on YouTube

“Requiem for the dead. Nightmare for the living,” reads the official blurb on the new Resident Evil 9 trailer.

“Resident Evil Requiem is the highly anticipated ninth title in the mainline Resident Evil series. Prepare to escape death in a heart-stopping experience that will chill you to your core.”

So, yes, this next entry in the Resi series is in bound, arriving 27th February next year across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Steam. It will be playable at Gamescom this summer.

Capcom actually offered us a sneaky Resident Evil 9 tease earlier this year, when it released a video to celebrate the success of its Resident Evil 4 Remake. Eagle-eyed fans noticed a sign post at the end of the video appeared to show IX when they cocked thier heads to the side slightly, which are of course the Roman numerals for the number nine. Very good Capcom, very good.

Elsewhere during this evening’s Summer Game Fest opening night showcase, we got a look at , as well as a release date for (NAME OF SOMETHING ELSE).
